If you own a motorcycle, just as with an automobile, the government requires that you carry a minimum amount of insurance coverage. Your motorcycle insurance will protect three main areas: property damage, liability and medical coverage. Property damage pays for theft or damage to your motorcycle. Liability pays for your legal responsibility to others for property damage or injuries. Medical coverage pays for the cost of treating injuries, rehabilitation and sometimes lost wages and funeral expenses if you are injured in an accident.
